In 2017 I published Given, which contained all of the titles I had ever given to my works shown in exhibitions between 2017 and 1988.
UnGiven is a sister publication comprising of titles not (yet) given to works interspersed with a series of previously unpublished notes and poems.
UnGiven is more than that, however, it is a personal document. Behind each title lies an idea, an observation, a memory, etc. They do not form a narrative as such, but they do, together, tell a story of the imaginative life of the artist.
A
title is often given to a work after its completion. The titles in UnGiven
may at some point go on to have works made for them, but they are also
are works in themselves. As are the notes and poems that join them in
UnGiven.
The book is a digital publication (pdf) on a usb-stick. It is made up
of (empty) pages taken from digitised (art) books.
